Receive Supernatural Provision by Birthright

An infinite God can give all of Himself to each of His children. He does not distribute Himself that each may have a part, but to each one He gives Himself as fully as if there were no others. ~ A. W. Tozer

“You have an inheritance.” Those are sweet words to hear, especially if the deceased was perhaps a wealthy uncle. It’s impossible for your brain not to think about the new possibilities coming your way. Suddenly, you have opportunities that didn’t exist just moments before you heard those words. Bills paid off. Maybe a new car or a vacation.

Well, God said, “You have an inheritance.” Actually, He said it more than once. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God; and if children, then heirs – heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ… (Rom. 8:16-17). In Galatians, Paul confirmed, if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise (v. 3:29). And in Ephesians: that the Gentiles [that’s us] should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ by the Gospel (v. 3:6).

God said. When He spoke creation into existence, everything He said happened, just like He said. Well, He also said a lot of other things that are just as sure. In the spirit – the things that are unseen – every Word is true. Thy-Word-Is-Truth. So why don’t you see more victory and abundance in your own life? Because God delegated His authority on this planet to you as His child. What you say governs your life.

God wants you to take all that has been given to you through the power of His Word, partner it with your faith and change the world. That process started the day you were born again. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Cor. 5:17). At that moment, you were ‘adopted’ into God’s family. You received a new Father, Almighty God, and a new position as king and priest on this earth.

When a baby is born into the world, he or she has nothing of their own. But they immediately receive all the blessing, care, provision and protection that the parents can give. If that child was adopted, she or he receives the same benefits. Little Orphan Annie is the classic example of rebirth – from orphanage to wealthy daughter and heir of all Daddy Warbucks’ vast estate.

Well, God has an ‘estate’ for you and me. He appointed Jesus heir of all things. Jesus turned around and delegated His privilege and authority to us. All power is given unto Me in Heaven and on earth. Go ye therefore … (Matt. 28:18-19). In Luke, He told them that nothing could hurt them. No thing! Paul explained to the Colossians that ye are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power (v. 2:10).

But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (John 1:12-13)

Everything belongs to you that belongs to Jesus. Every thing! God blessed you with every Blessing! If you can think it – health, prosperity, peace, whatever you need or desire – it is ready and waiting for you. God gave it to you by birthright, the moment you joined His family. For example, as Abraham’s seed, you have great wealth. The Bible says that Abraham was ‘very rich … in silver, and in gold.’ As an heir according to the promise, so are you!

I love reading historical novels, particularly about the European monarchies. When a king died, the new king often had to fight to keep his kingdom. There were mighty armies and powerful men aligned against him (or her – Elizabeth, Mary, Victoria, Isabella), who wanted to usurp the right and privilege of inheritance.

The same is true of the devil. He will try to do everything in his power to prevent you taking your rightful place. Although your birthright is sure as God’s child, that doesn’t mean you won’t have to fight the good fight of faith (I Tom. 6:12). Paul followed that instruction to Timothy by telling him to grab hold! In other words, be tenacious. Don’t give the devil any wiggle room in your thoughts, words or actions.

For the promise that he should be heir of the world came not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith (Rom. 4:14). Faith is always the key to receiving from God. The good news is, even if your faith doesn’t seem very powerful, it can grow and develop

So what can you do to strengthen your faith and claim your birthright and all its privileges?

Identify Yourself. You wouldn’t go to the attorney’s office without identification. Well, don’t go to God without knowing who you are in Christ. Ye are of God, little children (I John 5:2). The expression ‘child (or children) of God’ does not appear in the Old Testament. It took Jesus’ resurrection to bring us into the family. Paul explains that we have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, “Abba! Father!” (Rom. 8:15). You have a birthright as a child of God. Believe it whether you feel like it or not.

Find Out What’s Yours. One of the first things you’d do after learning you are an heir is to find out what you’ve inherited. You’d go to the reading of the will, or contact the attorney for confirmation of your inheritance. Well, Jesus’ Last Will and Testament is recorded for you in the Bible. Since Jesus is ‘heir of all things’ (Heb. 1:2) and you are a joint-heir with Him, then ‘all things’ belong to you, too! Every promise, every blessing, is as much yours as it is Jesus’.

Claim it! As born-again children of God, we can come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Heb. 4:16). As kings and priests, God expects us to rule our world, not allowing ourselves to be beaten down by it. He armed us (see Eph. 6) and delegated His power and authority to us. He expects us to use our faith to put all things under our feet. Faith takes determination, dedication and declaration. To claim supernatural provision, you have to speak words consistent with God’s Word. God watches over His Word to perform it (Jer. 1:12). He gave you the power to speak His Word and change the circumstances of your life. You have power to speak to mountains and they should obey you! So, what are you saying?

Don’t Beg. Ineffective, begging prayers don’t work. They don’t bring the power and provision of God on the scene. They leave you as sick and broke as you were when you prayed them.” Why? Because you are looking at the physical ‘seen’ [Lord, heal me!], not the spiritual ‘unseen’ [Lord, I am healed!]. You’re looking at your bank balance, not His promise to meet your every need. Instead, speak words of faith! Even God … calls things which be not as though they were (Rom. 10:17).

Don’t accept the world’s interpretation of your place, value or inheritance. Go to The Word – Jesus’ Last Will and Testament for you. What the Bible says, is yours by birthright; and it’s been laid out for you, promise by promise.

When those English princes assumed their kingship, one of the first things they did was demand fealty – a declaration of loyalty and obligation. As you commit to God, offering your faith and trust only to Him, looking not at the seen but at the unseen, you open the door to supernatural provision and divine protection. Your faith is the channel that pulls every spiritual blessing in heavenly places into the physical realm. Faith is yours by birthright. So is every blessing and every promise. Claim your inheritance and don’t let go!
