No Limits: How to Live an Unlimited Life

The great breakthrough in your life comes when you realize that you can learn anything you need to learn to accomplish any goal that you set for yourself. This means there are no limits on what you can be, have, or do. ~ Brian Tracy

Let me guess: you’re low on funds, pressed for time and worn out trying to meet your own and everyone else’s expectations. You’re emotionally challenged and just plain tired. You’re frustrated with all the limitations in your life.

Remember the plea: Stop the world, I want to get off? Or how about, “Beam me up, Scotty!” Are you tired of living a life that seems less than you’d expected or hoped? There are solutions.

Jesus announced in John 10:10 AMP, “I came that you might have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” He wants you to have a limitless life!

Perhaps the most important lesson you can ever learn is to realize that the boundaries for your life are not outside you. They are set by your own mind and spirit. External circumstances are not holding you back. You are.

As a man thinks in his heart [spirit], so is he…

Faith is the governing power for all things on the earth. You can only receive to the limit of your belief in what is possible. The key, then, is to change your believer – your spirit and your mind.

Every invention, every convenience, every creation of mankind required someone to first believe that it was possible. Then, they followed through with tenacity to see the dream or idea come to fruition. Doubt is not allowed – only faith. Everything in your world is the result of your faith.

What are you believing? Look at the words you speak.

“I just get so angry, I can’t control myself.” – That’s what you believe. The truth is: you can control your emotions, words and actions. The question is: are you willing to make the effort?

“I’ll never get ahead because the economy [government, job, taxes, etc] is so bad.” – That’s what you believe. But there is plenty of money in this world, more than enough for everyone to prosper beyond their wildest dreams. Are you willing to change what you believe – and work toward a new reality? God said He would give you the desires of your heart … meet every need … bless you exceeding abundantly above all your can ask or think!

“My mom had diabetes, so I suppose I’ll get it too.” – That’s what you believe. But you can change what you believe … and make changes in your diet and lifestyle to support a different reality. Are you willing to make the effort, to get in God’s Word and feed yourself on His promises of healing?

If you can believe, all things are possible …

Are you allowing the ‘world’ to dictate your beliefs? Like lemmings, most people follow bad news in the media, repeating their predictions as if they are true for them. And they become true – because that is what they have chosen to believe. It does not have to be that way! Millionaires do not believe in limitations, only opportunities.

Now, I’m not saying that it’s easy to move your limit-switch. Only that it is possible. And it all begins with what you believe to be true in your life. God is very clear on this point. “… If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.” (Mark 9:23)

The question becomes, “How can I change what I think is true about my life? What changes can I make to support a new ‘reality’?

The process is simple. Consistency is the key. To change what you believe requires you to think and speak differently – to focus on your desired result, not the current situation. Here are a couple of clues to change.

Say Yes! Believe in yourself. Believe that God created you as someone special to Him.  Do you know what He said to Himself when He created you? “This is good!” Later He said, “Fear not; for I am with you: be not afraid, for I am your God:  I will strengthen you; Yes, I will help you; I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness. (Is. 41:10) God’s got your back.

Do you remember the first time you jumped into a swimming pool? Or rode a bike? I’ll bet you had a parent or older sibling right there to catch you if you started to fall. But you were the one who had to jump! You were probably afraid … but you did it anyway. And discovered it was actually FUN!

You are not alone. You do not have to be afraid. God gave you those dreams and desires (the ones that are consistent with His Word) and He wants to help you fulfill them. He has a higher life waiting for you, one filled with blessing, joy and peace. He’s waiting for you to believe Him, to set aside the fear and jump. The key is to say yes. Trust Him. Build your faith in His love. Be patient. And watch Him work out the details. You’ll be amazed at the journey and delighted with the result.

Say No! Some stuff just has to get moved out so there’s room for better stuff to move in. Are your house, your schedule and your thoughts so full of ‘stuff’ that you are not free? Are you hanging on to things or tasks that take up so much of your time that you can’t find time to enjoy your life? Jesus said, “I came so that you might have and enjoy [your] life and have it more abundantly, to the full until it overflows.” (John 10:10 AMP)

There’s stuff in your life that’s just got to go. You’re done with them. God’s done with them. But you’re still holding on to them: bad attitudes, commitments and committees that drag you down and take up your time, possessions that clutter your life, tasks that are better done by someone else.

Years ago, I used to get frustrated with my husband because he wanted to change the oil in the car himself, but he was always too busy to do it. Thought process: I can, I know how, I’ve always done it; it seems lazy if I don’t, but I just don’t seem to have the time. Finally (after many discussions!) he agreed that paying someone else to do it blessed them (with income) and blessed him (by freeing himself of that task. What are you doing that someone else should do? Hire a maid or someone to mow the lawn. Give your ironing or sewing to someone else to do. Say no to the things that clutter your life and steal your peace and joy. (Here’s a hint: if it’s a constant struggle to do or take care of something, it’s time to make a change! )

Everything you say and think influences your mind to believe your words. And what you speak generally reinforces what you believe to be true about your situation. So ‘round and ‘round you go! Nothing changes because you continually reinforce your current experience with your own thoughts and words.

Let peace become your umpire. If it feels peaceful, “You’re safe.” If it’s time for change, tell that old habit, task or thought, “You’re out!” Don’t hang onto old thought patterns, possessions or commitments just because you’ve always done them. Examine your schedule.

  • Do you have time to spend with God in prayer and study? If not, then something else needs to be ‘out’.
  • Are you exhausted every day, trying to keep up with all the stuff that needs done?
  • Do you have events and activities planned that add joy to your life? If not, why not?

Find your place of peace. Find time to dream. The more you think beyond your limits, the more you will realize those limits are only in your mind.

Say no to those old beliefs, habits and attitudes. You don’t have to do it all yourself. You can make changes, ask for help, build your faith. You can give up the stuff in your life that no longer blesses you.

Say yes to the possibilities in front of you, new experiences, friendships, opportunities. Spend time with God. Watch and listen for His leading.

The limits in your life are actually in your own mind. Move your limit-switch – your level of believing – and you can have anything you desire! Make changes that are consistent with your new beliefs and desires, and you will discover a new reality … without limits.
