God’s Priorities: 6 Essential Precepts for Blessing & Victory

When we put God first, all other things fall into their proper place or drop out of our lives. Our love of the Lord will govern the claims for our affection, the demands on our time, the interests we pursue, and the order of our priorities. ~ Ezra Taft Benson

Would you like to see more victory and blessing in your life? All of us, I expect, would. But, here is the bigger question.

Do you understand how important God’s priorities are for you to experience more of what you desire? There are certain precepts in His Word that open the ‘windows of heaven’ on your behalf. As you align yourself with His priorities, He has promised to give you the desires of your heart (Ps. 37:4).

Now here’s the third question. Are you willing to make changes in your life to line up with His Divine priorities? Are you ready to change your thinking, your words and your actions to line up with God’s Word? Here are six essential concepts that flow throughout the Bible. Together, they form the foundation for blessing, victory and abundance in every area of your life.

1.       Love

Jesus made it clear – Love the Lord your God will all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. And if ye have aught against any, forgive …  (Matt. 22:37).  The first precept of Love is to fully understand that God loves you – no matter what you’ve done – fully, completely and eternally! Based on that Love, He asks us to share and demonstrate it, until we become rooted and grounded in love (Eph. 3:17). All the promises and power of God’s Word are rooted in Love.

2.       Faith

For without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. (Heb. 11:6) Faith connects you to spiritual power. It is unshaken belief that God’s Word is true and that He will uphold that Word. Faith believes that God will overturn any situation, strengthen and support you through any trial. Faith takes hold of His promises as if they are true now (now faith is …), regardless of your physical circumstances.

3.       Joy

But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: … let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee (Ps. 5:11) … for the joy of the Lord is your strength (Neh. 8:10) Joy is a tool, not a feeling. No matter what troubles you, joy can uplift your soul (mental attitude and emotions). As you rejoice, giving thanks for the blessings you do have, joy wells up inside you, bringing hope. God wants you victorious. Joy strengthens your resolve, knowing that God is on your side. He wants your joy full! (I John 1:4)

4.       Peace

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, … and be ye thankful. (Col. 3:15) At the close of every letter (epistle) in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul prayed for grace and peace – not love, faith, joy, prosperity or health. God’s grace (favor, mercy and blessing) and peace are sufficient to meet every need in your life. If you let peace rule, everything else will unfold harmoniously. Don’t allow upset, unforgiveness or anger to destroy all that God desires for you. Keep your peace.

5.       Health

Beloved, I wish [pray] above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers (3 John 1:2) … and He healed them all(Matt. 12:15) God wants you well. He sent Jesus to the cross for your healing (see 1 Peter 2:24) God made provision in His Word for divine health, restoration and long life (see Ps. 91). The promise is eternally yours. But to have it, you must believe it – excluding all other opinions, symptoms or circumstances. Like every promise of God, divine health requires diligent faith.

6.       Prosperity

But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. (Deut. 8:18) The Bible is filled with promises of prosperity. God expects His kids to live like King’s kids – fully supplied with every good thing – so that we can share that wealth and blessing with others (see 2 Cor. 9:8). God delights in our prosperity (Ps. 35:27). He promised that seedtime and harvest would never cease. Expect it!

“Seek Ye First …”

God has a plan for your life – a plan full of every good thing you could ever want or need. Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]— (Eph.3:20 AMP). To realize the bounty of His plan, however, you must first seek His kingdom and follow His precepts, His commandments.

Mix ‘Em Up!

Have you noticed how these six keys intertwine? Faith works by love. Health and prosperity increase in proportion to your believing and acting on God’s Word. Grace and peace go hand-in-hand with faith and love. Joy strengthens your spirit and gives thanks for love, health, prosperity and peace. If you neglect one, you will weaken the rest.

A rope is stronger than a thread. As you allow and encourage these six concepts to grow in your spirit and understanding, they will form a divine umbilical cord, connecting you to greater wisdom and blessing from God. As you partner these six precepts and allow them to intertwine in every area of your life, your faith will be stronger, your love will increase and your joy and peace will overflow.
